I was all excited for this intercom at first but with the cost of it not too sure now. My front door faces west so it will get 40°C heat on it with the Gold Coast Australian summer. I would assume with the metal housing it would have to get to 60°C and will probably fail

According to my information so far, it will be hot.

With all of that I don't think a $1000+ intercom is a brilliant idea so I might have to try to hack door bird or ring into my system

And that is why most customers will go with DoorBird in CZ/SK market :D.

Hi @D-Vine

I'm curious to your alternatives.....

In the past I spend + € 1000 on a 2N Helios IP Vario Intercom. Fibaro tells their users it should work with IOS ánd Android devices but the reality is

that it only works with IOS devices. And I'm a strictly Android user. So a lot of money wasted :(

Therefore I'm very interested in alternatives!

Mmm, ~1000 Euro is ~ 1500 AUD .. I think that is too rich for my blood, but I'll wait and see !

If they work flawlessly within and without the app then I'd consider it, but they aren't even showing as coming soon downunder where I shop yet.

Doorbird Attempt #2 may be on the cards :)

    Cheers,

    al.

@alandee there wa a YouTube video that was produced by Fibaro ANZ and they said they hope to start shipping next month so you might not have to wait that long

As for me as much as I wanted this I think I will pass as the westerly sun on a 40°C day here on the Gold Coast will more than likely kill it and at that price I won't want to be replacing them each year

    Cool,

Yeah true I think once I finish my front fence it will be slightly sheltered, and the front of ours faces East .. but the ambient alone mught be a problem under our even hotter SA sun !!

Might wait for the reviews to come in before I leap !

I have the Mobotix T25 here in Australia. I run the Fibaro app with a fixed android device on my wall downstairs and on an Apple upstairs. While the device is good is doesn't integrate with Fibaro very well at all and I just run the Mobotix app in the background for doorbell ringing.

I have a sneaky suspicion this Fibaro intercom has some heavy involvement from Mobotix. It has so many similarities with heavy delays and big price tag which sounds very Mobotix like. I really hope the intercom supports H.264 Onvif (Mobotix doesn't) so it can integrate into universal camera recording systems.

Hi @mazzurra, In NAS or NVR, you can record http mjpeg and you do not need h.264 or Onvif for it.

I think you get the message behind sentense above.

From my source, i got info, that this device hass passed all standards to get certified. I think that device will be just slower due to heat in it.

My Hikviison NVR doesn't support MJPEG unfortunately. I would much prefer the lower network load of H.264 anyway.

I will probably purchase the Doorbird, as it has all these features, but might just wait to see what Fibaro has to offer.

Does anyone have a link to the Fibaro ANZ video?

@mazzurra, honestly, i think you will end-up with Doorbird. Doorbird has new line of their intercoms:

Unfortunately i cannot say (for now) where is Fibaro better in comparison with Doorbird. As partner i know things, but i cannot say them now.

But as speculted, huge minus for Fibaro intercom is the price. Look here for a price of it:

aha, then check Mobotix, Telegärtner, Buch-Jäger oder 2N, don't compare Fibaro Intercom to cheap doorbells!

    @krisstoff thanks for the pics,

@tinman Yep agreed. They are apparently amongst the high end units, and in that case reasonable.

Problem is Mobotix, and 2N at least here in Au are pretty well supported, and proven.

For a new product that .. it is a bit of a premium price for unproven product.

    Only drawbacks I can see

Please login or register to see this link.

is that it is IP54 so splashes OK, but not in the weather, so I can't mount it on my gate :(

And rotating the ring to each number of the pin might lose it's appeal quickly, and isn't as intuitive as a keypad for the local delivery dude / power company and gas company ?

Generally I'd open the gate remotely for them, but when I'm offgrid they have a code.

    It looks good otherwise !

    Cheers,

2N is IP54 as well, but for sure as you said already proven quality

you can use any other paired BT Device (e.g. smartphone) to open gates as soon you are in the range of Intercom (the range can be set / calibrated once via the app, that's all, no pin anymore necessary), you can use voice control too :) Ring is for sure nice, and definitely looking nice, but lot of ppl will use other ways as well.

@Fibaro, maybe i'm blind, but where in the user manual are voice control and BT functionalities described?

right, here is better to use remote control and cam (set of cams) to monitor them

It mentions BT in the manual but there is no mention of voice control ?  Is that a thing ? My alexa and google can't really pick a voice consistantly !

@Fibaro what is the voice control functionality ? Why isn't it in the manual !?

Don't get me wrong, I'm all in for a good product, just cautious before handing over what will be over 1k by the time it gets to australia .. :)

    Also I didn't realise 2N was only IP54

I did not recall this one. Have you tried that one?
