Circuit setup FGD-212 same as FGD-211 possible?

ypoosn

Question

Hi,

I found a circuit setup that exactly matches my wiring needs. It is meant for FGD-211. Can this setup also be used

for FGD-212. You can find the picture below and also following this link:

In my understanding fgd-211's  output terminal "O" corresponds to the output terminal of fgd-212.

best,

Hi @ypoosn!

Welcome to our community!

The scheme above may work but it is not so safe to do that.

I will advise you to follow our wiring diagrams:

    Hi,

    thanks for your answer.

"May work" -> 'OK, I will try, eventually it will blow up the dimmer ;-)

"not so safe" to do that -> what do you mean by this?

    - from an electrical point of view? All used switches an cables are designed for 240V and 16A currents.

    - from the technical fibaro dimmer perspective?  Because the circuits are not designed to handle Load an Sx?

    best,

    Hi @ypoosn!

Connecting Dimmer in a incorrect way will void your warranty.

The L-pin is secured in a special way. Joining Sx to it is not the best way to do it.

It doesn't matter that your cables are rated 16A when Dimmer is not ; )

I will suggest once again that you should follow the diagram provided by us.

    Okay.

My problem is that I have to use the existing wiring somehow (see below)

    Hi @ypoosn!

    It is indeed a problem.

You can place another cable between those switches for Dimmer 2 to be fully operational.

Alternatively you can a relay with coil for 230V. This relay should be placed between Sx and S1.

Okay, thanks for your hints and support.

Probably I found another solution. Its a zwave dimmer module that allows direct wiring of switch input pins to L

I'm having more or less the exact same issue.

And I have already bought two FGD-212's, so if this does not work then that was a fair share of wasted money..

Am I understanding this correctly, in that the S-pins are not using 230V? That it's some other low voltage control signal only?

In my case I have a switch box in my living room with numerous switches in it. These switches controls the various ceiling lights.

Inside these boxes there are really not room for anything more, so I have to put the dimmer out in the ceiling box.

Out there what I have is three wires; L + N,  and a switched wire that connects to L when on.

So the module linked by @ypoosn would be perfect, but as I say, I already bought the fibaro dimmers...

    Any suggestions?
