GPS Tracking HC2 and iOS App question to Fibaro developers.

Question

Posted (edited)

Hello,

i red about this function in many places in this forum. I also used google.

It looks like there is a lot of issues in HC2 for gps tracking

i got 2 users and one super user. Even I make block scenes as explained I can’t trigger scene by tracking of gps location.

family panel did not show up even I activated tracking on all devices within 1 min.

if I trigger scene manually it works.

I see on android Fibaro app u can do adjustment of tracking range by gps location. This function is not on the iPhone app. Can Fibaro fix this? Do improvements on HC2 for get a better gos tracking function?

Hello, i check this inside HC2 under Devices And under Home.

I still not maneged to Get tracking working. Im using just a scene by sending notifications until I’m sure it’s working but it still don’t works the pulling of location is the issue I guess even if I have all settings right. I updated to 5.30 my hc2

    OK,

Now let's check pretty common mistake... what is your location in HC2?

According to your scenes you're expecting accuracy of15 meters from your home!?

Could you please make sure that your house location is right and absolutely correct.

You have mention that nothing shows on map at family panel. It could point that location permission for Fibaro application on users' phones is disabled.

I just made now two scenes:

Leaving the Area of HC by 500 meter, send me a push message and email that im leaving home

Closing the Are of HC by 3000 meter, send me a push message and email that im home

there are 2 person in the household one with andrioid phone on my is apple.

location is sett excatly on my cordinates as u see below on the picture

I pull location withing every 5 min. Both phones

As i see u can check location on two places inside the HC2:

    Configuration > Location

    Panels > Localisation Panel

But before somone checked my location and wrote that its in the sea.

I dont know what or where i can look to fix this issues.

    Phones settings:

    GPS Always on

    App is always awake

By the way it was me.... that mentioned about your coordinates are in the sea (by looking on your Lua scene)

Now, could you create a Lua scene to track location, not a block scene?

In addition you've attached follow snapshot

Please login or register to see this spoiler.

But it doesn't show coordinate of Home location, it shows coordinates to add new location (which uses coordinates from configuration panel)

Could you press Home (on left upper corner) and to verify that the location is correct?

The best solution to gps presence tracking with Fibaro system I found for the moment is using IFTTT. Should work both for HCL and HC2

Create a variable for every user with values like 'Home' and 'Away'

Create 2 scenes per user - one that sets this variable to Home, other to Away just remember to deselect any devices variables in triggering devices so they don't get triggered automatically.

Setup 2 location based applets in IFTTT app calling appropriate scenes in your Fibaro system (first time you will need to log in to your Fibaro cloud to grant API access to IFTTT)

Now you can create scenes reacting to change in the presence variable or check it's state in other scenes.

I'm testing it for a few days now, no excess battery drain (as IFTTT uses proper geofencing API), worked every time so far.

    Two questions:

    1. How IFFT tracks my phone, should I download some application? and grant location access?
    2. How fast the IFFT reacts to location changes?

    1. Yes IFTTT has it's own app on the phone

    2. As fast as every geofencing API in iOS/Android allows + few seconds to call a scene in the Fibaro system. It's usually few seconds and I think at most I had a ~2 minute delay between entering the geofenced zone and scene triggering but it is also dependent on mobile data so you can't expect more.

Now I confused... what doesn't work for you? Lua or Block scene?

I tested both, and both is not working , when  I’m debugging my location it’s show 0;0

I checked even my internet and changed my router at home, and still nothing..

I don’t know what to do more about it ))

To my best knowledge field "hasGPS"  shows if user has sent GPS data from phone. It is not something that you can set.

Field "tracking" shows how frequently to collect GPS data.

Could you please verify that Fibaro mobile app on user's phone have location permission.

I have saw on iPhones the permission sometimes disabled unexpectedly.

In addition please verify that user's mobile phone appears in mobile list at "access control" panel. (right at the end of the panel)

One more question, what do you mean by " when  I’m debugging my location it’s show 0;0 ".

    How exactly you debug that?

At the end believe me it will work, it must work.

and by checking user ID API properties, you see fields:

    hasGPS is  true

    tracking (some positive number)

    is it correct?

Looks like you never have received any location from your phone.

Are you sure your Fibaro application (the old application) works fine and has location permission.
