EDIT - I went with NO as per my notes from the last time I did this..

recovery files were good so hopefully should be okay

I have my HC2 for more than a year now, but I never did recovery so I don't know even how to do it. This is something new I guess?

 

I usually press NO on this type of questions, at least on first run. Is that z-wave memory even backed up?

recovered to 4.031 but can't seem to log in.. must need password from before

 

got in  - admin login and started restore from earlier today

 restored from backup this afternoon, spinning blue balls so far

looks like it did something ...

 

 

... but only 3 leds and no zwave led yet

sorry 3 led's , no zwave (led 4)

re-started again but still spinning balls

I did 2 backups today and it was the second one never completed and led me to this..

I restored to this backup after the recovery but I'm now thinking that perhaps this backup got corrupt and this is where I'm back now

 

I'm going to try another recovery and restore the backup from this morning instead...

why aren't there any failsafes on a system that runs your house like :"Hey I am trying to do a (simpel) backup but the alignment of the planets distorted it. Let's just go back and give the user an error message instead of just going bonkers".....

 

As far as I know, if you press yes you loose all connected devices and have to include all your stuff again!!!

And also exclude the HC2 in the wallplugs ect before re-adding

recovery 2 with the second last backup didn't work 

 

I had to restore with the admin login as it restored to 4.031 and the email login didn't work at that stage

I'll try again with an earlier backup..

 

I can see my evening with a good film and a glass of wine fading into an irate wife...

@AutoFrank, led 4 is not burning on my HC2, only 3 leds and z-wave is fully functional.

For me there isn't even a flicker on led 4 and I can't get past the spinning blue balls after login.....

had this ones and tried to refresh the browser site unpacient as i was and suddenly the process was finish after minutes....

Restore 3 completed and I'm at 4.031 (again)

zwave light is slickering a little but no devices as expected 

I'm going to try and restore an earlier backup and see if that makes any difference

recovery and restore to 3rd last backup complete

back at spinning balls for login,

....will leave at this for the next 30-40 mins and see if it corrects itself.....

yep, unfortunately no luck there 

it just seems to be stuck at the login, looks like all the services didnt start...

i'm trying to be patient but I about 5 mins off trying an even earlier backup.

I've been avoiding this because it'll be a lot of work to get back to where I am even though I have all the source code

.. TBH this is the last thing I needed on a friday of a long weekend and worst of all wife confidence is now at a low when it was just getting acceptance.....that'll be harder to recover from that than the FW

We got the ong weekend over in the Netherlands aswell and I too would hate it being interrupted by something like that. Worst part is that support has the same long weekend...

 

I still wonder why some HC2's give so much trouble doing basic stuff without a catastrophe like a power cut while updating.. Creating a backup should be risk free, shouldn't it?

 

For the sake of your tests, did you try booting without the USB  inserted? I read a lot of people doing this because of a faulty backup or a dead USB.

Thanks for the suggestions.... I'm going to give it one last go and then pick it up in the morning 

TBH, I didn't try the 'no usb' approach...

What do I do, just recover, restore the backup and then reboot without the USB stick ?

Hello Mr. @AutoFrank I've been watching everything that happened. For me if it is familiar to do recovery since the company for which work sells the equipment. I always say that message appears to me and I say yes.
I know you have more than 90 scenes and more than 423 devices but maybe doing so in this way can make your hc2 work again.
