Well, I'm dreading this... I haven't touched my Fibaro setup for a year or so, primarily because I'm moving house finally this week.  But in my new house I'd planned to start from scratch (sold my house as a smart home) and have just ordered my new HC2.  But having read this above I'm now concerned what I'm letting myself in for.

I originally had a HC2 about 7 years ago, when it was touted as Apple-like, but when I got it, it was anything but. Definitely not ready for consumers.  That device bricked due to upgrading the firmware, and for about a year I did without. Then a couple of years ago or so I reinvested and got another and since installing everything I've left it alone on purpose.  I'm now just refreshing my knowledge for starting up again and this is not the post I wanted to see :-( Deja vu

I feel all of your pain - losing everything you've programmed on multiple occasions is a nightmare. I also have the NEEO remote and the Homey (which at least uses JavaScript and has a nice UI), but neither of these are any better, albeit use JavaScript which is a far better language for a base code, universality, support etc.

I'm going to looking into offloading as much as possible from the HC2 to Node.js or even using Node-RED as @

Hope we get a proper working HC2 first.

Did a backup today after adding a new device (Aeon motion sensor Gen5) which went perfectly.

After the backup Z-wave failed to start again so I had to do a reboot to get it back working.

if there comes a hc3 i dont want to buy it, i think i could better sould my hc2 on ebay and buy another system. why want to buy a fibaro product? the service is miserable and the hc2 is lightyears away from today smarthome.

and i hate the app because you have to click 5 times when you want to switch a light and hue is not configured as light and many other things

at this time iam only need the hc2 for sending the trigger to the switches, i dont run scenes or any other, i dont use the alexa skill or anything else, i do all with node-red and node-red cost 40€ for the raspi, thats all and it works realy fine and good, dont need this damm system.

I don't disagree with you.

but one little notice here... as an author of node-red-contrib-fibaro-hc2.. yes, node-red is cool but periodic polling HC2 for events is not good as for me.. for example, if you wanna create a flow for motion action.

I don't get the Node-RED thing. If all my devices are setup in HC2 and the non Fibaro devices as virtual ones, I can trigger everything with scenes. What is the advantage of Node-RED?

FIBARO - wee need to hear your comment on what @Sankotronic described starting this thread.

Hi @gucio1234,

it looks like the moderators are all on holiday... there is still no reaction from FIBARO... :?::huh:

    Hello all!

I was contacted by T.Konopka asking me if I can give access to Fibaro QA team to my HC2 so they can analyze what is happening. Of course I immediately send them necessary information to do that.

    I'm still waiting for results.

That is good news, QA is kind of like 2nd line support. It means they take your problem seriously!

If I am at executive level of Fibaro, I will hold out the HC3 till end of year and align it with 700-series SoC and probably by then the Bluetooth 5.x with Mesh is available for mass market too. That will be a great roadmap to gel Z-Wave to HomeKit with one piece of hardware. But then, I am not at Fibaro executive level. ;)

And while I am at it, PLEASE Fibaro, do not starve HC3 of memory. 2GB of memory does not even add US$10 to the BoM! Give it a decent amount of memory to compensate for non-optimised/efficient APIs and other layers. You will see a drastic drop in swap utilisation hence I/O.

Makes sense. With Z-Wave 700 it it should be great with Smart Start.

    My wish of future:

Or maybe BLE (Homekit) and Z-Wave on same chip comming soon.

That is likelihood another year or more away.....And probably makes more sense for z-wave devices instead of gateway. There are probably more pros of having the Z-wave and BLE5.x Mesh separate on gateway than cons. ;)

Still nothing, not a word from Fibaro.

As a user that opened his HC2 to internet I would expect at least to be informed when Fibaro team started and when finished with my HC2 so that I can close ports and start using my HC2 normally as it can be with all this problems at hand. This is last time I opened my HC2 to them. First time was Fibaro support and I never get informed about their action or results.

And now again, not a word from Tuesday 13h when I send information for connecting to my HC2. Lame! :-(

Why should they say that if it were so.
Nobody would buy a HC2 anymore.
Everyone would wait for the new HC3.
And that would not be good.

However, this is only my opinion. ;)

    Hi @jwi,

the above story is the point, not about a possible HC3, so i think you've misunderstood the posting of @Sankotronic :-)

    Hi @Sankotronic,

i'm sorry to hear that, ut we all know, that Fibaro is NEVER giving straight answers.... unfortunally :-(

Well, almost everything - for there must be some intrigue, a hint at continuation left. Some intrigue to liven up your humdrum little life.

    @10der,

Well if Fibaro woul'd ask me for credentials to access my HC2 and then no word from them u woul'd be really pissed, believe me!

This is NOT the way to treat your custommers, agree?
