Hello Mr. @AutoFrank I've been watching everything that happened. For me if it is familiar to do recovery since the company for which work sells the equipment. I always say that message appears to me and I say yes.
I know you have more than 90 scenes and more than 423 devices but maybe doing so in this way can make your hc2 work again.

    Thanks @Rafael Suarez

Do you know if I say yes, then I will have to re-include all my devices again ?

Several weeks ago I learned that you can not use the hc2 without the USB inside since it works as an operating system boot HC2.

    found this:

But just doing a search for usb gives a lot of results

    Thanks @jimicr

That helps a lot in recovering some newer scenes with an older backup

I'll try a back from a week ago and then removing the stick

That is the problem that has more than 400 devices. I usually do to send the equipment to the clean customer.

    Good luck @AutoFrank,

I hope someone from Fibaro or a forum admin will create a sticky post with troubleshooting hints and tricks for if all else fails

    ..................

    its just gotten worse

All my kitchen lights are fibaro dimmers and I've just lost local control of those

They are all now at full brightness and I can't turn them down.

I tried the utility trip but then are maintaining state so they all come back on full

ffs - just when I though it couldn't get any worse

    .....

    okay figured out the lights...

I use two way retractive switches and it seems they have been reconfigured to toggle switches so I need to use the same up click to turn them off

I feel your pain...I have just to completely recover my HC2 with this build...I was getting crazy ZWave issues after the upgrade. Its far better now...so may be something in a beta.

Yes, you can boot your HC2 without inserted Recovery Stick.

The HC2 runs perfect, but you can't make or restore backups.

    Morning.....

Two possible options as I see it...

    Opt1

Try @RH_Dreambox suggestion and see if it will boot without stick

    Opt2

    Recover to 3.061

    Upgrade to 4.120

Restore backup that's compatable with 4.120

    ... not sure after that

Booting up without the stick didn't work so onto the recovery idea ...

    Random thoughts

    • HC2 normally boots from an internal drive. You can try too boot without USB.
    • HC2 RECOVERY boots from stick and that's where your backups are.
    • I'm not 100% certain about the backup if the Z-Wave ship, because I didn't test it. It should be safe to erase the Z-Wave ship. You get back your devices after you load a backup.
    • I'm not 100% certain about this either, but might be best to ERASE the chip. If you don't do that, running 4.X will start configuring devices and after a few minutes, all your mains powered devices will get default settings. This will cause issues with toggle/push button switches on dimmers and relays... You found out the hard way. :-(
    • If my information is wrong, or your backup is not OK, you'll have to exclude (with the new, fresh software) and include every device and edit every scene/vd. That's why I've never tried the option "erase Z-Wave chip", unless I was planning to start from scratch. Did that twice. I didn't die. The house didn't burn down either.
    • The "erase" option is also used if you want to sell your HC. Although I would do a normal exclude before that, you have to do that anyway. Not trying to tell you should sell your HC ;-)
    • IDs are unlimited. Number of physical devices (with a Z-Wave chip) talking to each other in one network is 232 (if you need more, you need extra controllers). But scene IDs and device IDs are unlimited.

I completed the recovery which brought me to 4.031

I then opted to upgrade to 4.120 through the normal process.

I think the upgrade completed but when the blue spinning balls stop I have three leds on and the 4th (zwave is flickering)

I have this UI and it is unresponsive...

I'll try a couple of restarts and see if improves but after that I'm running out of ideas...:(
