I can recommend run Proxmox VE , it is a open source virtualization platform. I have setup 3 different linux containers with different purposes, one of the containers is where i have installed node-red.

I run backup every night to my nas so it easy to recover if needed.

    Welcome back :-)

What hardware do you run it on?

Haha, i read everything that are posted here, so i have not been away. I am so satisfied with ER, running very fine without any interruptions now.

I run it on a small HP EliteDesk 800 35 W G4, you can see total memory and cpu usage for all my 3 containers if you look at node (pve)

    jgab, good morning

Thanks for explanation. I was thinking to get in the direction of voice control for my wife, she doest understand technical stuf.

I hope it will work much better as the Alexa on the HC2 I have tried but send the Alexa back because I was not satisfied with the whole installation.

Can I ask is it nice to voice control your house? Does it recognize your command easily or do you have to say it several times?

So I need Raspberry Pi with node red installed on it, Alexa Echo and if I want TV Harmony hub.

Can I use Raspberry Pi simultaneous as  Nas?

    Thanks in advance

Maybe start to run node-red on something you already have, like a PC, and see how it feels.

I use it to send text to say to my Sonos (

Please login or register to see this link.

    )

I send and get commands from the chat client Telegram (

Please login or register to see this link.

    t)

I've used it to get data from https based services that the HC2 can't handle...

...and I played with voice commands with Alexa using the wemo emulator (now

Please login or register to see this link.

). It only supports simple on/off commands but it works very well. Like "party on" and it sets the light and turns on the music. There are more advanced Alexa node-red projects. One that that looks promising is hosted by the developer on AWS and you need to subscribe to it. But it supports most Alexa commands. (

Please login or register to see this link.

    )

The advantage with Alexa and Telegram is that you receive the commands to ER and in ER you can set up rules what the commands should activate, taking time-of-day or other concerns into consideration.

Having said that I'm not a big voice-command user, still have been more of a party-trick. Talking to yourselves at my age make people become concerned :-)

My node-red flow at this moment look like:

The Sonos flow at the bottom was in hope to do some more advanced Sonos control, like playlist, queuing etc - but at the time the node was not complete on features - haven't chawed it lately.

    Hi Jompa68,

    Thanks for answering.

I need to please the wife in using home automation and I saw your video voice operated switch on Television. Is it also very easy to voice command all lights and other connected stuff?

Do you have Raspberry 3 with Raspian?

Promox for Backup, at this moment I have Goodsync running under windows. Its running backup every time I change a file and what I like the most is you can keep  the old files. So if you make a mistake you can get the former saved version back. Easy if you are messing around, hahaha. Let me discover Promax later

I am not familiar with Raspberry but I saw also a model with a kind of tuchscreen, I dont have any keyboard or mouse anymore.

    Hi jgab and jompa68

This goes over my head but I will try to follow slowly.

What I have in ER now the daily stuff, no hue and alarm, runs very smooth.

To switch alarm into ER should be not be difficultI think because for my outside light I have used some similar trigger but its running now excellent so it will be the last item I wil change

I see also that my HC2  load is drastically going down. Shall I remove the scenes who are running in ER? (I can copy and paste them in Excel but no idea why I should do it).

In ER (Hue) I have a small problem to tackle with your help

    _HueHubs     = "192.168.1.126", "3SMuZzruMd9ZedzEFZlrxEaxNHZn5qMWy465roai"

    Please advice

I see that I can install Node red also on my laptop.

Is it possible to do what you are doing with Node red on my laptop and if I like the messages I can? play with Sonos to buy a raspberry?

Or is this a bad idea?
    please advice

_HueHubs need to be a table

Please login or register to see this code.

and then for every Hue light you need to map to a "Fibaro" deviceID

First add variables for your devices in the beginning of your ER file, like you do for your real devices

Please login or register to see this code.

...and give them fake deviceID numbers starting on something above 10000, here we start at 12000

    Then map them to Hue devices;

Ex. If your Hue names are "Living room", "Left window" etc. (the names your lights have in the Hue app)

You do like this (inside main(), before your rules:

Please login or register to see this code.

Then you can use the devices (12000, 12001 etc) almost like normal devices, livingroom:on etc.

Well, events don't keep a state so the 'for' can't query the expression if it's still valid.

A way around it is to use trigger variables to keep the state, EventScript variables that start with an '_' and can be used as triggers as opposed to normal variables that don't start with an '_'

    New version of HC2.lua

Useful proxy that forwards triggers on the HC2 to your emulator.

    Ex.

Please login or register to see this code.

This replaces kind of _System.monitorDevice() that was polling the HC2 every second. This proxy model is pretty quick to send the event to the emulator.

It's much more efficient also as it is one scene for all triggers.

Very soon we can run all our scenes on the emulator and only use the HC2 as a z-wave gateway :-)

    Hi jgab,

If I follow your video for the emulator it is going wrong with creating data file

Error connnecting to HC2: 'timeout' - URL: 'http://192.198.1.153/api/globalVariables/'.

I disabled Anti Virus what was acting up by installing

WebGui wil start again only after I restart my comp but will not create data file.

    What can I do?

Proxmox is the sotware you run as base on your computer.

Please login or register to see this link.

So instead of having a bunch of rPi's i setup containers in Proxmox.

It should be the same ip adress as when you open the HC2 web GUI.

http://192.168.1.184:6872/emu/main only works when the emulator/scen is running

I recommend the ZBS plugin (goes into ZBS 'packages' directory)

Please login or register to see this link.
