TUTORIAL - Sonos Remote VD (using node-sonos-api)

16.5 hours run time with a 60 second main loop....there's definitely something strange, almost like a memory leak or something where it's basically getting clogged up and quitting.

Upgraded to 4.11 this morning and VD has been running for 1.5hrs main loop delay.....much better than the 17 minutes from before 

Fingers crossed that's the problem solved.

I think that the case for most of out better half's.. otherwise we wouldn't be allow to play

my wife gets greeted with - "Welcome Home, The house temperature is  XX"

.. might try a marching band for fun some day

I did similar once but with all of my RGBW strip lights around the house. Wife walks in and LAPD mode goes off 

 

On another note...this has been running fine now since the update on Saturday so must have been some bug with HC2 on V4.080.

 

Just one thing I'd like to fix now and that is 3 of my players all show "Stopped" when off but one shows "Paused_Playback". Odd.

Greta to hear that the upgrade solved the issues

I think the PAUSED_PLAYBACK v STOPPED is radio v music track being stopped/paused

If you are just looking to have the display on the VD the same you could code an approach like "if state == paused_playback or state == stopped then display stopped in label "

Yeah, that would make sense. Most are streaming radio from the internet whilst the odd one out is via spotify. I did think of changing as you said but wondered if there was an obvious reason I was missing.

Still up and running without a hitch  Also changed my Play and Stop messages to the traditional "Triangle" and "Square" icons as they take up less space and look nicer.

Now this is running properly I've set up a scene to let me know when the baby is asleep. We play white noise in her room when sleeping and so I can now set a variable along with a door sensor so I know when she's sleeping....I can now automatically limit volume on the other speakers should somebody else turn them on.

Running the same engine since a while. The API is great and TTS functions works perfectly.

 

I'm using a slightly modified VD as I wanted to have a compact tile on HC2 web interface.

Zone name is hardcoded as it contains "space" (and thus the need for %20) which does not look good being in VD name

Any of you guys go the code so I can use a slider to report/set the volume?

 

Never used sliders in a VD before and my baby sleep deprived brain can't work it out right now
